Several times a year, Georgetown County Fire/EMS along with Georgetown County Sheriff Department, SC Highway Patrol, Carolina Lifecare Medical Helicopter, Georgetown County Coroner, and several other agencies put on a Safety Awareness day. During the day, there are giveaways, food, information, and a mock vehicle accident in which 1 person is pronounced deceased on the scene by the county coroner and 1 individual is flown away from the scene in the medical helicopter. SCHP and Georgetown County Sheriff Department is on scene to give a sobriety test and one of the occupants is arrested for DUI. The day is to give the public an idea of what is involved with a serious accident, and the consquences of driving under the influence. After the mock vehicle accident, all units will be available to view up close, and fire dept., GCSO, SCHP, and the flight crew will availble to ask questions. Please enjoy the slide presentation from one of our recent safety awareness days.
