On Saturday March 14 stations 2, 7, 9, 10 and 5 career and volunteer personnel participated in a multi company search and rescue drill at station 5. The departments search and rescue trailer was used. Personnel donned turnout gear and entered the trailer through a pipe. For some, this was the first time they had been through the trailer. The drill was more of a search drill than a rescue drill, but gave each person the opportunity to get into a tight, dark atmosphere.
More about the trailer:
The search and rescue trailer is a converted storage trailer into a 4 part confined space/search and rescue trailer. A large amount of time was put into converting this trailer into a training trailer. The trailer is divided into 4 quadrants with moveable hatches and doors to change the configuration. There are small round openings in the sides of the trailer to attach pipe for confined space training. There are cameras in all 4 sections that are hooked into a television and can also be recorded for further critique purposes. The television screen can be monitored while crews are inside the trailer. Rope lighting also lines all 4 sections.
